In 2003 I was lucky enough to be sent by my work to the USA for a secondment to the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, where I managed to meet a large number of bright people. I also managed to meet a lot of other people, of varying walks of life, who dispelled the myth that I never believed that all Americans are the same. (For example, a large number of them are Canadian...)
